The India women’s squad for their upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh was announced on Monday with Royal Challengers Bengaluru spinner Asha Sobhana and Mumbai Indians’ Sajana Sajeevan earning their maiden national call-ups. Harmanpreet Kaur captained the team, and Smriti Mandhana served as her deputy.

The series will begin on April 28 and continue until May 9, with all five matches taking place at Sylhet’s SICS. The first match is on April 28, the second on April 30, and the third on May 2. The final two matches will take place on May 6 and 9, respectively. All matches will start at 6 p.m.

Sobhana starred in RCB’s successful WPL campaign, taking 12 wickets in ten games at an average of 15.42. Sajeevan, who played for the Mumbai Indians, performed admirably in the recently concluded Inter-Zonal red-ball tournament in Pune, scoring a spirited 74 in the semifinals. She’s also an off-spinner.

Shreyanka Patil, another star RCB performer, is also in the squad, while Dayalan Hemalatha has returned to the side after not playing since October 2022. Renuka Singh Thakur, young Titas Sadhu, and Pooja Vastrakar are the team’s pacers.

Saika Ishaque, a left-arm spinner who represented India after a successful WPL season last year, is also in the squad.
